Study Abroad Scholarships


**Please be aware of the following deadlines and plan accordingly!**


Financial Aid/HOPE Scholarship
Financial aid is applicable toward the cost of study abroad for Georgia State University students. Plan to attend a Globe-Trekker Seminar, where you will receive information on how financial aid applies to Study Abroad, including federal aid, the Georgia HOPE Scholarship and the International Education Fee (IEF) Study Abroad and Foundation Scholarships.


International Education Fee (IEF) Study Abroad Programs
Scholarship
Award: A minimum of between $250 - $1000


Eligibility:
Available to Georgia State University Students enrolled in degree or certificate programs who will be earning credit for an experience abroad. Minimum GPA is 2.8 for undergraduates, and 3.2 for graduates. For law students, the minimum score is 73. Preference is given for the following: academic merit, longer programs, HOPE scholars, financial need, strong essays, under-represented countries, under-represented fields of study, and students with little or no international experience.  Students who apply for the IEF Scholarship are also automatically considered for the Georgia State University Foundation Study Abroad Scholarship.

Deadline for Spring 2010 scholarship competition is Monday, October 19, 2009, at 5 pm.

Robinson College of Business Nita Robinson Scholarship
Award: Up to: $2,500
Eligibility: must have 3.5 or higher cumulative GSU GPA and must be enrolled in a degree program in RCB and either beginning third of fourth year of RCB undergraduate program or completing first year of RCB master’s program.
Deadline: January/February prior to academic year

U.S. Student Programs Fulbright Scholarships
Award: Varies but comparable to a Graduate Stipend
Eligibility: must be a U.S. Citizen with at least an undergraduate degree prior to commencement of program. Must be in good academic standing and have undertaken higher education in the U.S. May not have resided in host country for more than six months prior to commencement of program.

Keep in mind that the application process may take several months, so you will want to begin the process by the beginning of the summer (a year and a half before you wish to be abroad.)

NSEP Boren Undergraduate Study Abroad Scholarships
Description:
The David L. Boren National Security Education Program Schorlarship (NSEP) is a federally funded study abroad scholarship designed to encourage career-related skills development in preparation for efforts/activities that would lead to opportunities in federal service.

Award: Up to $20,000 depending on duration and cost of program

Eligibility: U.S. citizens enrolled in U.S. institutions of higher education wishing to study outside of the U.S. in non-traditional locations (see website) during their undergraduate studies.

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship
Award: Up to $5,000
Eligibility: must be undergraduate, recipient of the Pell Grant, and studying abroad on a program that runs during Academic Year, Fall, or Spring term

Rotary Scholarships
Award: Up to $25,000
Eligibility: must have completed up to 2 years of college-level coursework, or equivalent professional experience
Deadline: up to a year and a half in advance
