Non-GSU Study Abroad Programs
Although Georgia State University offers a variety of exciting study
abroad options to students, at this time most of these programs are offered
in the May and Summer terms only. Since many students are interested
in studying abroad for a semester or a full academic year, the Study
Abroad Programs Office of the Office of International Affairs is a good
resource for students to explore alternative quality study abroad options
through other institutions and international education organizations.
Students studying abroad on non-GSU Study
Abroad Programs must plan to attend a Globe-Trekker
Seminar, held several times a week at 10 Park Place South,
Suite 500, in the Study Abroad Resource Library. After
you've attended one of these seminars, you may then speak to an Advisor
individually. Please see our Advising Schedule for available hours
as we no longer require appointments.
Credit Approval: Students will be directed to the Office
of Academic Assistance for their College (Arts and Sciences, Business,
Education, etc.), where they will be advised on the process for studying
abroad as transient students and on coordinating course equivalency and
pre-approval for course credit to be transferred back to Georgia State
University. Pre-approval is necessary to ensure that students receive
credit for study abroad. Details on this process and copies of the Credit
Approval Form are available at the Globe-Trekker
Seminars held in the Study Abroad Programs Office.
Financial Aid: Financial aid, including federal aid
and the Georgia HOPE Scholarship, is available for students who have
completed their Credit Approval Form. Students should consult with the
Office of Student Financial Aid, in 102 Sparks Hall, as soon as possible
while planning for study abroad. At your Globe-Trekker
Seminar, make sure to ask the Study Abroad Advisor about other available
scholarships, including the International Education Fee (IEF) Study Abroad
Scholarship.
