GSU Health Travel Advisory: Avian Flu and International Travel

In light of recent information and increasing reports of human cases of the H5N1 (Avian Flu) virus, the Office of International Affairs is issuing a travel advisory to members of the university community considering international travel, especially to Asia. We support a proactive approach in response to this potential health threat and suggest that international travelers update themselves with pre-departure information and preventative measures against the virus. For current information and updates, please find links to the CDC fact sheet and website.


Please continue to inform the university's International Travel Tracking System by completing the online travel form or by sending an e-mail to oia@gsu.edu

The following information should be provided:

  • Name of Traveler
  • Name address and telephone number of U.S. contact person
  • Destination
  • Departure date, time, point of embarkation, airline, flight number
  • Arrival date at destination
  • Accommodation information including address and telephone number
  • Name, address and telephone number of local contact person
  • Return travel information
