2008 Metro Atlanta WorldQuest Event Details

o March 8, 2008
o 8:00 - 2:30 p.m.

o Registration begins at 8:00 AM
o The competition will begin promptly at 9:00AM

o Georgia State University Student Center, State Ballroom (44 Courtland St Atlanta, GA 30303-3973)

Parking & Logistics (NEW)

o Parking will be available in M Deck at the Corner of Gilmer Street and Piedmont Road opposite the Student Center. For directions to M Deck Click on "Directions" below

o Each team will be able to park one vehicle in M Deck complements of Georgia State University. We will need the driver’s name by Thursday, February 28th for the Guest List.
o The cost for additional vehicles will be $6 per day.
o School Buses and other oversized vehicles can park on Collins Street which is below Courtland Street.

Meal Arrangements

o A light Continental Breakfast will be available to team members and coaches before the event. Participants requiring a hardy breakfast are encouraged to eat before arriving.
o Beverages (coffee, tea, water) will be available throughout.
o Lunch will be provided free of charge for team members and coaches.
o Please let us know beforehand if anyone has vegetarian or other dietary preferences. This information should be sent by Wednesday, February 20th.
o For their dining convenience, visitors and families can .purchase food from area restaurants/eateries in close proximity of the Student Center including:

o McDonald’s Restaurant at Grady Hospital one block south of the Student Center
o "Landmark Diner" and "Jittery Joe’s" at Georgia State University Commons at Piedmont and John Wesley Dobbs (141 Piedmont Avenue NE)
o Curb Market (0.3 miles @ 209 Edgewood Ave SE)"

Visitors

There will be limited seating available in the audience. This event is open to the public. Please give us an indication by Wednesday, February 20th the number of visitors you expect will accompany you to the competition

Competition Rules and Regulations

Competition Winners

o Plaques will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams
o All participants will receive certificates of participation and gift bags


2008 World Affairs Councils National WorldQuest Competition

o The team representing Georgia will attend the national competition from April 4 - 6, 2008 in Washington, D.C. If for any reason the winning team cannot participate, an offer will be made to the second place team and so on until a representative is confirmed.
o The 2008 Metro Atlanta WorldQuest organizers will provide air travel, ground transportation, accommodation and meals for two nights and three days so that the coach and four (4) members of the Metro Atlanta team can participate in the national competition.
